We are all familiar with the famous traditions like leaving cookies out for Santa or decorating Easter eggs. But what are some famous Thanksgiving traditions? I interviewed some students here at GJ about their favorite traditions on Thanksgiving.

Starting off with a ninth grader at GJ and on the soccer team, Emma Morrison usually likes to wake up in the morning on thanksgiving and have some cinnamon rolls she baked with her parents. She then enjoys the day and awaits until all her family arrives and they share a nice family dinner.

A sophomore at GJ, named Channing Morales, likes to do a lot of baking. She likes to cook things with her grandma such as a turkey and ham and an assortment of casseroles.

Makayla, a senior at GJ, likes to start the day off with watching the Macy’s day parade and prepare dinner. She says that if she has any extra time, she will toss the football around with her family.

Some of my favorite traditionsare watching the Macy’s day parade as well, while my cousins and I bake a different dish for dinner with our grandma. Then, we end the day off with saying what we’re thankful for.

Another member of the newsletter, Kiana Imperial, likes to spend most of the day spending time with family and eating delicious food. Another sophomore at GJ, EK as we call her, likes to spend the day just spending time with cousins. She usually has a mix of foods to satisfy all tongues, such as her and her cousins’ as they all gather on Thanksgiving

Another freshman at GJ, Avery Best, likes to spend most the day with family as they all sit on the couch and watch all the football games. She then eats her Thanksgiving dinner with her family as well.

Well, I hope you all are enjoying the holidays, but here’s some ideas to celebrate in case you are feeling out of the holiday spirit.

Bartow Museum Greets Holiday Season with its “Festival of Wreaths”

Written by Lucia Winkler The Polk County History Center in Bartow, Florida has been ornamented in stylish reds, greens, and golds. Garlands wind through the rotunda's handrail, topped by bows that wonderfully complement the festive scene. The warm, wintery atmosphere is enlivened by the original plan for the building. Though the snowflake-shaped tiles and "swags", which are painted designs that adorn the museum year-round and resemble draping garlands, were not intended to carry a holiday mood,

Eagles On Me

Written by Dorys Farias Cheerleading, one of the most traditionally-known sports, has been around since the 19th century; and it brings a lot of attention to other traditional sports. While cheerleading is known for its amazing chants and matching school uniforms out on the sidelines or at competitions, the sport takes more effort than anyone could imagine. Cheerleading is often seen in a shallow light, some seeing it solely as the uniform while others see false glamour in it; but behind the s
