Many people have heard about their high school football, basketball, or volleyball team winning a championship, but one sport often goes unrecognized: Raiders. Raiders, a JROTC sport, demands extreme dedication and hard work. Unlike more traditional sports, Raiders combines running, strength, teamwork, and grit, challenging both the body and mind. Despite these demands, it does not receive the recognition it deserves.

Raiders centers on teamwork and demands consistent communication and practice. Practices mirror competitions, with obstacle courses, running courses, and rope bridges—all requiring close collaboration and constant communication. In competition, all lessons from practice are put to the test with adrenaline high from the early morning start through each obstacle. Between rounds, you and your team prepare for the next challenge, always focused on consistency, teamwork, and problem-solving. The sport tests not just physical strength but also the courage to support your team. While Raiders may not be as traditional as cheerleading, football, or basketball, it pushes your mind and body throughout its quick season, running from October to early January.

In 2024, the girls Raiders team demonstrated determination, competing all the way up to the district level. Meanwhile, the mixed team advanced even further, representing their school at the state competition and showcasing the strength and unity of the program. These achievements highlight the dedication and skill within the Raiders teams, proving that their hard work deserves greater recognition. More recognition for Raiders is deserved because of their unique challenges and demands like no other.
